Solha Park @toronto

Solha Park is a Toronto-based illustrator working under the name Doremisolha. Rooted in Korean heritage and inspired by personal narratives of immigration, her digital works explore the intersection of cultural identity, memory, and modernity. Drawing influence from Korean traditional arts—such as hanok architecture, hanbok clothing, minhwa folk paintings, and oral folktales—Solha reinterprets these elements with a vibrant, kitschy color palette and playful digital techniques.

Her recent series, "Our Pure Expressions," transforms 순우리말—pure Korean words without direct translation—into deeply personal visual stories. Through this body of work, she reflects on the Korean immigrant experience, capturing moments of emotional resonance and cultural duality. Each piece evokes both nostalgia and serenity, inviting viewers into a layered world where tradition meets contemporary life.

Currently completing her final year at OCAD University, Solha continues to create illustrations that celebrate Korean culture while offering a fresh voice within the broader landscape of diaspora art. Whether read through intricate narrative details or appreciated simply for their visual charm, her works embody a bridge between heritage and the present.
