Yerang Moon @newyork
Yerang Moon (b.1999, Seoul, Korea) is an artist currently based in New York as a Fulbright scholar. Driven by a curiosity about how individuals become collectives, she explores the dynamics of our lives. She makes paintings, high reliefs and installations to delve into the complex relationship between individuals and society by metaphorically exploring in 2D and 3D, visible and non-visible aspects of humans. Before pursuing her MFA at Pratt Institute (expected date of graduation, May 2025), Yerang received a BFA from Seoul National University in 2021.
Yerang’s work explores the intricate connections between individuals and society. Yerang’s art draws inspiration from ongoing stories and moments she has witnessed, weaving them into dynamic 2D and 3D creations that capture the complexity of human relationships.
Inspired by extreme emotions like excitement or sadness, Yerang transforms intangible feelings into abstract scenes. Nude and distorted, her figures symbolize the shared human journey.
